Wilson Wang (WD-Home)

WD-Home ensures the safety of seniors in community thru generation of actionable data to simplify drug regimens and to prevent emergencies

Dr. Wilson Wang is Founder & CEO of WD-Home, an app that ensures the comfort and safety of older persons where ever they choose to live. Dr. Wang is a practicing pediatrician of 20 years with expertise in healthcare delivery in global settings, pandemic response, behavioral change engineering, and childhood nutrition. He is Adjunct Professor at NYU’s School of Global Public Health. Dr. Wang earned his MD from UC Davis, MPH from UC Berkeley, and MPA from Harvard's Kennedy School. His first job out of university was junior high school science teacher in Oakland, California with Teach for America. He resides with his 8-year-old daughter Drew and his wife, Seongeun Chun, in Harlem.

As the aging population rapidly shifts from working age to retirement age, senior care becomes more strained from the growing population of seniors needing care and the shortage of caregivers entering the labor market. In 2023, Dr. Wang discovered that his cousin owned an assisted living community. He then went and worked in this community, where he saw caregivers improperly charting due to overwhelming workload and absence of modern user-centered tools. Dr. Wang realized that modern electronic charting could generate actionable data to better care for seniors. This included algorithmic analysis of older persons drug prescriptions, decreasing medication lists by 30% and expensive hospitalizations by 25%, simply by eliminating dangerous and non-evidence-based drugs. This is just one exciting feature of WD-Home.
